The words ‘eerie’ and ‘scary’ aren’t really how you want to be described by your friends — unless you’re an artist, of course. Or, should that be, unless you’re David Flinn. The New York artist experiments with sculpture, installation and organic elements, all of which is embodied in his latest work, The King is Dead.

Apocalyptic Shift is inspired by Mary Mattingly's Flock House project, a microsphere of orbiting habitats that move around massive urban architecture. This night reimagines urban geographies and repurposes the Happening. Apocalyptic Shift turns Eyebeam into an immersive environment and creates new visions for a post-industrial landscape.

Tim Goossens, the Belgian-born former assistant curator at MoMA PS1 — back when it was just “PS1″ — and fordProject, has just joined Lower East Side gallery envoy enterprises as its curatorial director. He’ll continue to be a man of many hats, however: he’s also curating a project at the upcoming Berlin Biennale and organizing an exhibition of works by artist Stephen Posen that opens next week in Gramercy.
Down on Chrystie Street, Goossens will be working alongside envoy director Jimi Dams on upcoming programming initiatives, and developing projects with current and future gallery artists.

We first met David Flinn during one of fashion’s most epic evenings—September Fashion Week at none other than Barney’s now-famous karaoke party. Originally an event that was intended to celebrate Carine Roitfeld, it was quickly taken over by the singing pipes of Valentino himself. As we made our way over to the next party of the night, David mentioned a solo show of his work coming up at Envoy Enterprises on the LES.
