“One of the best things about John Cameron Mitchell's wonderful new film "Shortbus" is the music of Scott Matthew, a little known New York-based songwriter whose extraordinary performances in the film will hopefully put him on the path to a successful career. Matthew plays quiet chamber pop, the spare arrangements punctuated by trombone and glockenspiel in a way that might be cute if it weren't for the uncommon power of Matthew's voice, a voice so drowning in sorrow and pathos that it pulls you down with it.”
