envoy's weekly Sunday performance program has started again after a post-summer/pre-fall break. See what you missed last Sunday ...
JESSE COOPER LEVY
THE SHAKES
TERROR PIGEON DANCE REVOLT
Jesse Cooper Levy with guitar in hitch creates eccentric and eclectic folk music. His songs cover issues as varied as their arrangements, from girlfriends to Hamlet to Hell's Gift Shop.
The Shakes are four punk kids who write soul music. Their songs are akin to Otis Redding while incorporating punk aesthetics ala instrumental distortion and a bombastic performance.
Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt AKA Neil Fridd is relentless, running through crowds, scaling things, doing acrobatics, all this while wearing a giant Ultimate Protection Suit, that is, 100 + stuffed animals sewn to a jumpsuit, turning him into some kind of childhood head of the bed gone wrong. His instrument: lights. While singing and dancing Neil's is also hard at work orchestrating an elaborate light show.
